I "studied" for a while at the Manchester School of Art, as it was then. I managed to get myself kicked out for various reasons!
I really do not know quite what to say about my work, it's still evolving. I hope the landscapes, seascapes etc. Are never particularly overly concerned with place. They are more about trying to convey a sense of being there, Landscape is so much more than a quick snapshot. I use the weather, light and season to help me here. I work only from my own sketches and memory. People who base paintings on photos, all too often, produce only facile works!
My "people paintings" range from those that show ordinary people doing everyday things to those that allude or make comments about how I feel about life in Wales, or in general. I think of myself as a painter. Paint and its "manipulation" is important to me. If a painting is not well painted then no matter what the subject, it has no right to be on any wall!
