Wendy first started painting over thirty years ago to create images for her young children to enjoy based on animals and favourite cartoon characters. From this beginning she developed her talent and interest by taking courses with professional artists and attending art classes, notably at Filton College of Art & Design in Bristol; however, she regards herself as largely self-taught.
She has explored a wide variety of mediums including oil, pastel, watercolour, ink and acrylics. Eclectic in her choice of subject matter, Wendy is as interested in the challenges presented by the human figure, interiors, animals and birds, as she is in the stimulus provided by the magnificent landscapes of West Wales where she now lives.
Her work has been shown at exhibitions held at the Royal West of England Academy, the Clifton Arts Club, the Bath Society of Artists, the Bath & West Show and the Somerset Society of Artists. The Bristol Cancer Help Centre has also asked Wendy to contribute work to their prestigious exhibitions for invited artists to assist in raising money for its cause. In addition, she has sold work in commercial galleries in Cornwall, Bristol and Frome and, since moving to Wales, in Haverfordwest, Llandeilo, Fishguard and Tregaron. Last year she was selected to exhibit in the Welsh Artist of the Year exhibition at St. David’s Hall, Cardiff.
In the future she simply wants to continue to explore the endless opportunities of her art.
